An expected amount
The check uses the expected cash float for the relevant register.
At opening, checking the cash float should not require copying a machine's result and calculating the difference manually. Monetec collects results from integrated counting equipment and automatically compares the cash amount with the expected float.
When the central cash office or a manager hands a float to the cashier, the cashier must be able to confirm the amount actually received. A discrepancy found before trading must not be confused with one arising after a day of sales.
The check uses the expected cash float for the relevant register.
The cashier actually counts the received cash using Monetec's usual tools.
Monetec compares the amounts automatically and flags every difference, even one cent.
When equipment isn't connected to the management software, counting results must be entered separately. This means more handling and more opportunities for error.
With Monetec, results from compatible equipment are received in the app. Cashiers don't have to copy those results manually to check their float.
Checking becomes a natural follow-up to counting. Manual entry remains available for cash not processed by connected equipment.
This option is available when an administrator has enabled the check.
The counting modules provide the total value of the cash received.
Monetec shows the expected amount, counted amount and the difference.
A matching float is approved. If there's a difference, the cashier may correct the count or reject the float.
Illustrative example of a float received and checked with Monetec.
The float matches: the cashier can confirm receipt. If the amount were €149.00, Monetec would show a −€1.00 difference and prevent approval as a matching float.
The cashier confirms that the float matches and names the person declared to have prepared it.
The cashier chooses how to resolve the situation before starting work.
When confirming the check, the cashier selects the person who prepared the float from the administrators offered in the app.
If rejected, Monetec records the observed amount, discrepancy and the declared identity of the preparer in a separate incident, without automatically assigning responsibility for the discrepancy to the cashier opening the register.
Identified from the cashier's declaration during the check.
Physically counts the float, checks the result and confirms or rejects it.
Records the check and, if rejected, a separate preparation incident.
Opening float verification is a feature of the Store Management Pack. An authorized administrator can enable or disable it in the management area.
When enabled, cashiers can choose between float verification and normal counting when opening the register.
The opening check is independent of the end-of-day closing: approving it does not close the register or replace a later count.
